SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Harold Myron Cox of
4 Brighton on Tuesday, September 26, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on December 15, 1932, in White Hall to
6 Harvey Wayne and Maude Geraldine (Fox) Cox; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He valiantly served his country as a member of the
8 U.S. Army during the Korean War; he was a sergeant with the
9 Alton Police Department, serving from May 1957 to June 1977;
10 and
 
11     WHEREAS, Mr. Cox was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308, a
12 former member of the Alton Eagles #254, and was a 1951 graduate
13 from Roodhouse High School; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was united in marriage to Janice Metzler on
15 December 4, 1987, in Jerseyville; she preceded him in death on
16 September 24, 2001; and
 
17     WHEREAS, The passing of Harold Myron Cox has been deeply
18 felt by many, especially his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda
19 and Bill Fitzgerald, Catherine and Greg Lister, Karen and Jeff
20 Auston, and Debbie and Bob Clothier; his grandchildren, Matt
21 Fitzgerald, Laura Fitzgerald, Mary Cordes, Sarah Paddock,
22 Becky Saville, Emily Paddock, Hannah Auston, Adam Lister, Eric
23 Lister, and Ashley, Cory, and David Clothier; his
24 step-grandchildren, Jason Auston and Jamie Auston; his
25 great-grandson, Brian Matthew Fitzgerald; and his brother,
26 Cloyd E. Cox; in addition to his wife, he was preceded in death
27 by his parents, and his brothers, Hal Melvin Cox and Gerald H.
28 Cox; therefore, be it
 
29     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2 Harold M. Cox, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
3 family, his friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
4 further
 
5     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
7 sympathy.
