SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Harold Myron Cox of Brighton on Tuesday, September 26, 2006; and

WHEREAS, He was born on December 15, 1932, in White Hall to Harvey Wayne and Maude Geraldine (Fox) Cox; and

WHEREAS, He valiantly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War; he was a sergeant with the Alton Police Department, serving from May 1957 to June 1977; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Cox was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308, a former member of the Alton Eagles #254, and was a 1951 graduate from Roodhouse High School; and

WHEREAS, He was united in marriage to Janice Metzler on December 4, 1987, in Jerseyville; she preceded him in death on September 24, 2001; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Harold Myron Cox has been deeply felt by many, especially his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Bill Fitzgerald, Catherine and Greg Lister, Karen and Jeff Auston, and Debbie and Bob Clothier; his grandchildren, Matt Fitzgerald, Laura Fitzgerald, Mary Cordes, Sarah Paddock, Becky Saville, Emily Paddock, Hannah Auston, Adam Lister, Eric Lister, and Ashley, Cory, and David Clothier; his step-grandchildren, Jason Auston and Jamie Auston; his great-grandson, Brian Matthew Fitzgerald; and his brother, Cloyd E. Cox; in addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Hal Melvin Cox and Gerald H. Cox; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harold M. Cox, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, his friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
