SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the passing of Julius H. Waldschmidt of Henry on October 8, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Julius Waldschmidt was born on July 8, 1919, in Metamora to Vitus O. and Gertrude (Scheirer) Waldschmidt; he married Dorris Reising on January 10, 1942, in Metamora; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Waldschmidt served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater, receiving four Bronze Battle stars; he was a member of the Henry American Legion Post #323 for over 50 years, the Henry Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years, and served on the board of directors of La Prairie Mutual Insurance Co. for 27 years, four of those years as president; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Waldschmidt was a lifelong farmer in the Henry area; he was also a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Camp Grove; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Julius Waldschmidt has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife Doris Waldschmidt; his sons, Marvin A. (Anita) Waldschmidt, Allan L. (Vicki) Waldschmidt, Russell L. (Pat) Waldschmidt, Ernest J. (Pam) Waldschmidt, and Dean F. (Kathy) Waldschmidt; his daughters, Doreen M. (Howard) Shipman and Julia R. (Bob) Read; his brothers, Leonard (Kathryn) Waldschmidt and Dennis Waldschmidt; his sisters, Imelda Monge, Viola Presley, and Anna Jean (Ron) Krolak; his 22 grandchildren; and his 16 great-grandchildren; in addition to his parents, his brother, Norbert and his sister, Loretta, preceded him in death; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Julius Waldschmidt, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
