SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Edward Nelson of Edwardsville, on Wednesday, June 21, 2006; and

WHEREAS, He was born on September 19, 1930, to Romy and Della (Farmer) Nelson in Hobart, Indiana; he was united in marriage in 1967 to Betty (Betz) Nelson; and

WHEREAS, He formerly managed Tri City Grocery in Edwardsville and worked for Madison County Transit; he was a member of the Edwardsville Moose Lodge 1561; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Edward Nelson has been deeply felt by many, especially by his wife, Betty (Betz) Nelson; his daughters, Kathy Ahrens and her husband, Gary, and Ruth Scheve; his stepsons, Ken Kerckhoff and Warren Kerckhoff and his wife, Patty; his grandchildren, Nichole Sodam, Andrea Jones, and Jason Sodam; his great-grandchildren, Austin Probst, Kenzy Probst, Katelyn, and Jason Sodam Jr.; his brother, Harold Nelson, and his wife, Donna; and his sisters, Ruth Eyman and her husband, Ray, and Betty Thurnau and her husband, Warren; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Romy and Della (Farmer) Nelson; and his brother, Andrew Nelson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Edward Nelson, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
