SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Michael G. Pohlman of Glen
4 Carbon on Sunday, May 7, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on January 2, 1958, in Alton to George
6 A. and Mary E. (Hawkins) Pohlman; he and the former Beverly J.
7 Newcom were married on August 23, 1980, in Rosewood Heights;
8 and
 
9     WHEREAS, He was a 1976 graduate of Roxana High School,
10 where he played football, baseball, and basketball; he attended
11 St. Louis University on a baseball scholarship and graduated
12 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy in 1980;
13 he then attended the Medical College of Virginia and received a
14 master's degree in 1988; he obtained his doctorate degree in
15 physical therapy in November of 2005; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He had owned and operated Fitness Design in Glen
17 Carbon with his partner since 1992; he was a member of St.
18 Cecilia's Catholic Church in Glen Carbon and the Edwardsville
19 Knights of Columbus Council; and
 
20     WHEREAS, An avid bicyclist, he was a member of the St.
21 Louis Cycling Club and played competitive racquetball in the
22 St. Louis area for many years; and
 
23     WHEREAS, He was a loving husband and father, a caring and
24 competent physical therapist, and a true and loyal friend to
25 many, and he touched many lives; and
 
26     WHEREAS, The passing of Michael G. Pohlman has been deeply
27 felt by many, especially his wife, Beverly; his parents, George
28 and Mary Pohlman; his sons, Matthew and Andrew Pohlman; his
29 daughters, Amy and Molly Pohlman; his brothers, Daniel Pohlman

1 and wife, Debbie, Douglas Pohlman, and Christopher Pohlman and
2 wife, Kelly; and his sister, Jackie McManus; therefore, be it
 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5 Michael G. Pohlman, and we extend our sincere condolences to
6 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved his; and be it
7 further
 
8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
10 sympathy.
