SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Michael A. Tolden of
4 O'Fallon on Tuesday, April 18, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Tolden was very well-liked by his colleagues,
6 Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Masons, and Shriners; he was
7 devoted and dedicated to his community with caring, sharing,
8 love, and pride; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Tolden was very out spoken, humorous, and was
10 called one of the "Best Teachers" in the district; many
11 students knew him as "Unc" (Uncle) because of his compassion
12 and love for children; he was a very outstanding teacher of
13 social studies and he made teaching fun; for 35 years he made
14 an impact on the lives of many children; he was one of the
15 Martin Luther King School activity organizers and an assistant
16 track coach; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He was in Who's Who Among Teachers and won the
18 Railroad Safety Award; he had many other accomplishments and
19 achievements; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The passing of Michael A. Tolden has been deeply
21 felt by many, especially his wife, Sandra Faye Floore-Tolden;
22 his daughters, Kimberly (James Route) Swift-Route and Nakeesha
23 Tolden; his son, Michael DeJuan (Andrea Austin) Tolden; his
24 sister, Ardella (Charles) Tolden-Lovelace; his brothers,
25 Maurice (Elaine) Tolden and Paul (Irene) Tolden; his
26 grandchildren, Jaylan, Chauncy, Madison, and Michael; and his
27 many relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
28     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
29 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
30 Michael A. Tolden, and we extend our sincere condolences to his

1 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
2 further
 
3     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
5 sympathy.
