SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Michael A. Tolden of O'Fallon on Tuesday, April 18, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tolden was very well-liked by his colleagues, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Masons, and Shriners; he was devoted and dedicated to his community with caring, sharing, love, and pride; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tolden was very out spoken, humorous, and was called one of the "Best Teachers" in the district; many students knew him as "Unc" (Uncle) because of his compassion and love for children; he was a very outstanding teacher of social studies and he made teaching fun; for 35 years he made an impact on the lives of many children; he was one of the Martin Luther King School activity organizers and an assistant track coach; and

WHEREAS, He was in Who's Who Among Teachers and won the Railroad Safety Award; he had many other accomplishments and achievements; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Michael A. Tolden has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Sandra Faye Floore-Tolden; his daughters, Kimberly (James Route) Swift-Route and Nakeesha Tolden; his son, Michael DeJuan (Andrea Austin) Tolden; his sister, Ardella (Charles) Tolden-Lovelace; his brothers, Maurice (Elaine) Tolden and Paul (Irene) Tolden; his grandchildren, Jaylan, Chauncy, Madison, and Michael; and his many relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Michael A. Tolden, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
