SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Petra Maclas of Alton, who passed away on April 23, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Petra Maclas was born on September 1, 1929, in Alton to the late Santurnino and Gavina (Trevino) Carmona; she married Cecil Maclas on October 19, 1940; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Maclas was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton and the Alton Mexican Club; and

WHEREAS, She was known for her loving and caring nature; she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Maclas is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Cecil Maclas; her parents, Santurnino and Gavina Carmona; her brother, Rudy Carmona; her sister, Rachel Carmona; and her great-grandson, Neal Yenne; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Petra Maclas will be felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Bridget Maclas and Cecil and Diana Maclas; her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jim Seago and Patty and Kevin Bergfeld; her grandchildren, Doug Maclas, Billy Yenne, Jim Seago, Mike Berkley, Eric Dickerson, Mindy Seago, and Kelli Dickerson; her five great-grandchildren; her sisters, Delores Gross and Mary Stephenson; her brother, Ben Carmona; and her other extended loved ones and many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with all who knew and loved her, the death of Petra Maclas; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Petra Maclas with our sincere condolences.
