SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Helen Ann Pierce of Dunlap on Thursday, April 6, 2006; and

WHEREAS, She was born on October 4, 1934, in PeeWee Valley, Kentucky, to George and Camilla Hodge Baker; she married Marion Pierce on August 7, 1960, in Louisville, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, She worked as a school teacher for 50 years in Dunlap School District 323 and served as Scholastic Bowl coach until March 2006; she was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church in Dunlap; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Helen Ann Pierce has been deeply felt by many, especially her husband, Marion; her children, Camilla (Jeff) Hempstead, Chester (Jean) Pierce, and Charles (Jeanette) Pierce; and her grandchildren, Jessica Hempstead, Jason Hempstead, Alayna Pierce, Alyssa Pierce, and Katie Pierce; she was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Phoebe Althaus; and her brother, Charles Baker; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Helen Ann Pierce, and we extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
