SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Samuel Columbus "Kid" Keaton on Wednesday, February 2, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Keaton was born on March 12, 1929, in Casscoe, Arkansas, one of nine children born to Mack C. and Ora Mae Keaton; he was fondly known as "Kid" from early childhood until his death; he spent his youth in Arkansas and moved to Chicago in 1952; and

WHEREAS, He married Aurelia Hill in September of 1953; they were the proud parents of two children, Shelvin and Barbara Denise; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Samuel Columbus "Kid" Keaton has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Aurelia Keaton; his daughter, Barbara Denise Keaton; his son, Shelvin (Mattie); his grandchildren, Stephanie and Matthew; his brother, Leotis; and his many nieces, nephews, and other relatives; he was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Samuel Columbus "Kid" Keaton, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest condolences during their time of bereavement.
