SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of William E. Moore Sr. of Hartford on Wednesday, March 29, 2006; and

WHEREAS, He was born on March 17, 1925, in Benton, Missouri, to James "Elmer" and Irene (Bess) Moore; he married the former Helen Miller on January 12, 1947, in Pekin; she preceded him in death on January 21, 1993; and

WHEREAS, He valiantly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II and received three Bronze Stars; and

WHEREAS, He was an ironworker for 24 years, retiring in 1972; he was a former trustee for the village of Hartford and a member of Local 392 in East St. Louis, Wood River Masonic Lodge 1062, and VFW Post 2859; and

WHEREAS, The passing of William E. Moore Sr. has been deeply felt by many, especially his son and daughter-in-law, William E. Jr. and Cynthia Moore; his daughter, Deborah Harrison; his grandchildren and their spouses, Craig and Tiffany Moore, Robert Moore and Katie Bedwell, Jennifer Pointer, Emily Harrison, and Matthew Harrison; his five great-grandchildren; his sisters, Fern Sweeney and Helen Stalcup; his brother, Dale Moore; and his companion, Melba Pritchard; in addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Gary Moore and an infant; his brothers, James and Delmar "Doc" Moore; and his sister, LaVern Hirsh; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William E. Moore Sr., and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
