SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Robert Francis "RT" Tracy of Mount Sterling on Sunday, March 26, 2006; and

WHEREAS, He was born on August 8, 1924, in Jerseyville to Frank and Ellen Elizabeth "Nellie" Massey Tracy; he attended Jersey County High School and earned a bachelor's degree in dairy technology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1948; he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 to 1945 on the USS General Omar Bundy; he obtained a private pilot's license in 1948; and

WHEREAS, He married Dorothy Curtin in 1949 in Stonington; he worked for Prairie Farms Dairy as an assistant manager in Champaign and Henry from 1949 to 1952 and an assistant general manager and sales manager in Mount Sterling until 1956; he then served as general manager of Norris Dairy Products in Dallas before returning to Prairie Farms in Mount Sterling in 1958; he and his wife founded Associated Dairy Products, later renamed Dot Foods, Inc., in Mount Sterling in 1960; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tracy was a member of Holy Family Church in Mount Sterling, where he served as a trustee; the Mount Sterling Knights of Columbus; Rolling Greens Golf Club; Mount Sterling American Legion Post 374; the Beardstown Elks Club; and the Mount Sterling Rotary Club; and

WHEREAS, He was named Mount Sterling Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 1986 and the Distinguished Citizen of the Year in 1996 by the Mississippi Valley Council of Boy Scouts of America; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Tracy has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Dorothy; his sons, Donald (wife, Wanda), Patrick, Thomas (wife, Catherine), James (wife, Jil), John (wife, Linda), Joseph (wife, Jill), and Richard (wife, Adina); his daughters, Anne (husband, Ray) Capestrain, Jean (husband, Mike) Buckley, Susan (husband, Scott) Stamerjohn, Mary (husband, Jay) Sullivan, and Jane (husband, Fred) Schmidt; his 41 grandchildren; his sister, Mary Ellen Tracy; and his brother, Bill Tracy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert F. Tracy, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
