SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Richard H. Rokop, Sr. of Aurora, who passed away on February 12, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Richard Rokop, Sr. was born on June 11, 1941 to Joseph and Margaret Rokop; and

WHEREAS, He was the head of Aurora's downtown development, director of the Buildings and Permits Department, deputy director of parks and recreation, a member of the Metro Water Reclamation District Board of Trustees, and a Kane county Republican Treasurer; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Rokop was known for his enthusiasm for high school sports; after being a teenage athlete, he became active as a referee and umpire, until knee problems prevented him from running up and down the court or field; in 1993, he was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame as an official; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Rokop was an active member in his community; he was a member of Holy Angels Parish, the Lions Club, and the Phoenix Club; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Richard H. Rokop, Sr. will be felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Jeanne (Skiba) Rokop; his sons, Richard (Lynette) Rokop, Jr., Michael (Stephanie) Rokop and their children, Zachary, Laura, and Jacob, Daniel (Erica) Rokop and their children, Tyler and Payton; his brother, Donald (Susan) Rokop; his niece, Kathy Rokop; his nephew, Jimmy (Kristin) Rokop and their children Madeline and Sofia; his nephew, Tom Rokop; his sister, Patricia (Thomas) Schnick; his nephew, Todd (Maribeth) Schnick; his sister, Peggy (Melvin) Gould; his nephew, Kevin (Maggie) Gould and their children, Sebastian and Garrett; his niece, Heather (Andrew II) Robertson and their children Drew and Brooke; his nephew, Eric Gould; his brother, Dennis (Charlene) Rokop; his niece, Kristine Rokop; his nephew, Joseph Rokop; Judy Rokop, (the mother of Richard Jr., Michael, and Daniel); his father and mother-in-law, Michael (Patricia) Skiba; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill (Joanie) Lawler, their daughter, Cathy Pfeifer-Lawler, and Brad (Janice) Westrom and their children, Abby and Kelly Westrom; he was preceded in death by his parents; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with all who knew and loved him, the death of Richard H. Rokop, Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard H. Rokop, Sr. along with our sincere condolences.
