SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Harry C. Dortch, of Granite City, who passed away on March 20, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Harry Dortch was born in Stewart County, Tennessee, and moved to Granite City as a child; he graduated from Granite City High School and received a degree from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dortch was a naval veteran; after he was discharged, he married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen M. Nieber, in 1952; and

WHEREAS, He started his pharmacy career working at Reese Drug Stores; he served in many positions, not only as a pharmacist, but as an executive vice president and general manager; and

WHEREAS, After the stores closed in the mid-1980s, he worked as a pharmacist at Huck's Drug Store, Providence Pharmacy, and later at Gateway Regional Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dortch was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Harry C. Dortch will be felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Kathleen Dortch; his sons, Brian Dortch and David Dortch; his daughter, Jackie Jones; and his three grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with all who knew and loved him, the death of Harry C. Dortch; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harry C. Dortch along with our sincere condolences.
