SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Rona Suzanne Bostic, who passed away on February 10, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Rona Bostic was born on November 3, 1951 to the late Alfred G. Bostic and Bernice Murphy Bostic; and

WHEREAS, At 16 years old, she entered Northwestern University, where she majored in radio, television, and film; she fulfilled her life-long dream of a career in the media industry; and

WHEREAS, The award-winning producer entered the business as a copywriter at Spiegel; she became a producer at the Allstate Insurance Company, and then at Sears, where she filmed commercials; she later joined the staff at United Airlines, serving as senior staff representative in the In-Flight Entertainment and On-Board Product Planning Divisions; through her work at United Airlines, Ms. Bostic attended many screenings and premiers and met many television and film personalities; and

WHEREAS, Rona Bostic also volunteered for many film and television organizations, most notably serving as president of the board of the Blacklight Film Festival and as a producer with the Chicago Access Corporation; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Bostic was known for her generous support of the work of her friends and colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Bostic was a world-class traveler, and she loved being on the road; among the many countries she visited were Africa, Australia, England, France, Mexico, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the Canary Islands; she often traveled with her mother and college pal, Deborah Dillon; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Rona Suzanne Bostic will be felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her mother, Bernice; her cousins; her "adopted" nieces and nephews; and a host of close friends and acquaintances whose lives she touched; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with all who knew and loved her, the death of Rona Suzanne Bostic; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rona Suzanne Bostic with our deepest condolences.
