SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Edward J. McMurray of Peoria, who passed away on February 3, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Edward McMurray was born on January 21, 1936, in Peoria to Edward T. and Freda (Lahood) McMurray; he married Betty Ann Couri in Peoria on June 24, 1958; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McMurray graduated from Manual High School and Bradley University; he worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1994 as a Senior Quality Engineer; while at Caterpillar, he was a member of the Caterpillar Political Action Committee; and he was also a Quality Management Consultant and a member of the Board of Directors for MC International; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McMurray always found time to give back to his community; he was a member of the Itoo Society of Peoria; he was the past president of the Midwest Federation of Lebanese Clubs, the American Lebanese Club of Peoria, and St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church Council; and he was a founding member of St. Sharbel Maronite Church; and

WHEREAS, Edward McMurray also authored a book on quality management entitled "Hands on Approach to Total Quality Management"; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McMurray will always be remembered as a man of great integrity, honor, and faith; he was known for his loving and caring attitude toward everyone he came in contact with; he enjoyed spending time with his many other relatives and friends; and he was a devoted family man; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McMurray was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elizabeth Barrack; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Edward J. McMurray will be felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Betty; his daughters, Diana (and Douglas) Olson, Mary (and Paul) Windsor, Elizabeth, and Kathleen; his sons, Edward (and Patricia), Stephan (and Marie), Jon (and Diane), Peter (and Sara), Mark (and Kim), Greg (and Dana), James (and Kasey), and David; his 17 grandchildren; and his many other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with all who knew and loved him, the death of Edward J. McMurray; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward J. McMurray as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
