SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Joyce Joanne Thome of
4 Mapleton on January 5, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born November 24, 1936 in Peoria to Howard
6 and Davena Herget Gilmore; she married Charles G. Thome on
7 February 5, 1955 in Peoria; and
 
8     WHEREAS, She was the originator and co-chairperson of the
9 Jim Thome Benefit for the Children's Hospital of Illinois at
10 OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, which has benefited
11 many children and their families in the central Illinois area;
12 the Benefit originated in 1995 and will celebrate its 10th
13 anniversary on January 15, 2005; the Benefit has raised over $1
14 million; and
 
15     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her father and one
16 great-granddaughter; and
 
17     WHEREAS, The passing of Joyce Joanne Thome will be felt by
18 all who knew and loved her, especially her husband; her mother
19 and stepfather, Davena and James Stetler; her sons, Chuck
20 (Jada), Randy (Teri), and James (Andrea); her daughters,
21 Jennifer (Johnny) Ellis, the twin sister of James, and Lori
22 (Frank) Larson; her sister, Barbara (Ulysses) Dean; and her
23 grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
24     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
25 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
26 Joyce Joanne Thome and we extend our sincere condolences to her
27 family, friends, and community; and be it further
 
28     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
