SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Kenneth James Lampley of Benton on January 17, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lampley was born to Alvis and Fay (Walker) Lampley in Benton on March 30, 1930; he married Carmen (Hayse) Lampley on May 5, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lampley was a lifelong Franklin County resident and in January 2005, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lampley was a member of the Benton Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years, a member of the Benton City Council for six years, and a 54-year member of the Laborer's International Union, Local 529; he held the office of secretary and treasurer for Local 529 for many years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lampley was a man of many talents and worked as a welder, bricklayer, construction worker, and laborer during his lifetime; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lampley enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and camper for many years; he was also a stock car driver and fan in his younger days; and

WHEREAS, Everyone who knew him knew he was an opinionated man who enjoyed writing letters to the editor of The Benton Evening News and loved politics; he believed in what he thought was right and was a strong advocate for preserving Twin Oaks; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Lampley's greatest joy was his family; he loved watching and playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Kenneth James Lampley is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Carmen Lampley; his children, Debbie Williams and husband, Carl, Kerrie Stewart and husband, Jack, Rick Lampley, Joanie Sims and husband, Stacy, Greg Lampley and wife, Michelle, Brian A. Lampley and wife, Cindy, Lilli Loucks, and Russell Lampley; his grandchildren, Jim Eldridge and wife, Sonya, Amanda Varner and husband, Jason, Ashley Cross and husband, Ryan, Ansley Sims, Hayli Lampley, Austin and Aszure Louks, and Elijah Lampley; his great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Vandekerkhove and Brittany Eldridge; his sisters, Kay Donovan, Shirley Clayton, and Sue Ronchetto and husband, Joe; his brother, Richard Lampley and wife, Clodena; his many nieces and nephews; and his aunt, Betty Lakemeyer; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis and Fay (Walker) Lampley; his brother, Carroll Lampley; his twin daughters, Bonnie and Connie Lampley; and his very special grandson, Aren James Loucks; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kenneth James Lampley and extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
