SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Marine Lance Corporal Hector Ramos of Aurora died in a helicopter crash during a desert sandstorm near the town of Ar Rutbah, Iraq, on January 26, 2005; he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii; and

WHEREAS, Hector was born December 9, 1984 in Aurora; although the notion had been in his head for years, he first decided to join the Marines on September 11, 2001 after the terrorist attacks; he joined the summer after he graduated in 2003 from East Aurora High School; and

WHEREAS, In high school he was always a leader; he was a talented artist, president of the DECA marketing club, starred in a number of school plays and always wanted to help other students; he was a proud Marine and returned to his school to tell students of his experiences in the Marines; and

WHEREAS, He will be remembered as a smiling, friendly, outgoing, creative, talented, involved, fun-loving, and proud young man; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Manuel Becker, and his uncle, Hector Becker; and

WHEREAS, He is survived by his mother, Nancy Ramos; his father, Aurelio Ramos; his brothers, Noah and Isiah Ramos; his uncles, Joel (Nina) Becker and Manuel (Gloria) Becker; his aunt, Tawney Becker; his grandmother, Irene Becker; and his fiancee, Jessica Jimenez; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that together with his family, friends, fellow members of the United States armed forces, and the citizens of this State and this great nation, we mourn the passing of Marine Lance Corporal Hector Ramos and we extend to his family our sincerest condolences; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
