SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Elgin Township Supervisor
4 Douglas C. Johnson of Elgin on Friday, November 25, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on August 1, 1927, in Woodstock,
6 Illinois, and was the son of Victor and Lucille Johnson; he had
7 been a resident of Elgin most of his life; he valiantly served
8 his country as a member of the U.S. Marines for four years; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson had been employed by the First
10 National Bank of Elgin for 25 years; he took over as Elgin
11 Township supervisor in May of 1993 and led the township through
12 major budget cuts and a lawsuit, after his predecessor
13 embezzled $1.5 million in township funds; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church of
15 Elgin, a founding member of the Morning Kiwanis Club, active
16 with the YMCA, a past president of the John Erickson League,
17 active with Big Brothers, and he helped found the Little
18 English School; and
 
19     WHEREAS, He was named Elgin Township Republican Man of the
20 Year in 1999; was a member of the Elgin Riverside Club; a
21 member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #799 of Elgin; and he
22 was presently Senior Vice Commandant of the Elgin Marine Corp
23 League, Detachment #077; and
 
24     WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Johnson has been deeply felt by
25 many, especially his wife of 45 years, Barbara; his daughter,
26 Carrie (Jeff) Jones; his sons, Scott (Kathy) Johnson and Randy
27 (Dianne) Johnson; his grandchildren, Steven, Carly, Jessica,
28 Tyler, and Kathleen; and his brother, Del (Margaret) Johnson;
29 he was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Deanna;
30 and his brother, Dale; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3 Douglas C. Johnson, and we extend our sincere condolences to
4 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5 further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
8 sympathy.
