| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Dr. Curzio Paesani of | 4 |
| Peoria Heights on November 23, 2005; he practiced dentistry for | 5 |
| 48 years in Peoria and retired in 1998; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on September 21, 1922, in Vallerano, | 7 |
| Italy, to Giuseppe and Angelina Loser Paesani; he grew up in | 8 |
| Coalton, Illinois, before moving to Peoria; he married Dorothy | 9 |
| Anne Keel on October 10, 1953, in Clarksville, Tennessee; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, He was a World War II Marine veteran serving in | 11 |
| the Pacific Theatre, where he served as 1st Lieutenant in the | 12 |
| 5th and 2nd Division for 37 months; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, A graduate of Nokomis Township High School, he | 14 |
| attended Carthage College; he was a graduate of Northwestern | 15 |
| University, where he earned his bachelor's degree; he attended | 16 |
| University of Illinois graduate school, earning a degree in | 17 |
| engineering; he earned his dental degree from Loyola in 1950; | 18 |
| he was a member of Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, He was also a member of the Peoria Vocation Group, | 20 |
| the Country Club of Peoria, a member and general chairman for | 21 |
| the State meeting for the Illinois State Dental Society, a past | 22 |
| president and member of the Peoria District Dental Society, and | 23 |
| a member of the Illinois State Dental Society, having served on | 24 |
| the Executive Council for six years; he also served on the | 25 |
| Council of Dental Education and Commission on Dental | 26 |
| Accreditation with the American Dental Association; the Dental | 27 |
| Assisting National Board, where he served as Chairman; and he | 28 |
| was co-founder of Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting at | 29 |
| I.C.C.; and

| WHEREAS, He established a modern dental clinic at a mission |

| in Tiacoachistlahuaca, Mexico, sponsored by Holy Family | 2 |
| Church; he was a volunteer at the city and county dental clinic | 3 |
| that served Heartland and Mother Krasse patients; and
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, He authored a book on the history of dentistry in | 5 |
| Peoria called "Open Wide This Won't Hurt"; he also was a member | 6 |
| of the International College of Dentistry, L.D. Pankey Study | 7 |
| Club, and St. Thomas Catholic Church, where he formerly served | 8 |
| on the Parish Council; he was a former member of the OSF St. | 9 |
| Francis Foundation Board; and

| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Dr. Curzio Paesani is felt by all | 12 |
| who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Dorothy; his sons, | 13 |
| Patrick Paesani and Michael Paesani; his daughter, Lisa Paesani | 14 |
| (Dr. Dave) Dexter; his brothers, Dr. Peter (Neva) Paesani and | 15 |
| Gene (Adele) Paesani; and his eight grandchildren; therefore, | 16 |
| be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 18 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 19 |
| Dr. Curzio Paesani and extend our sincerest condolences to his | 20 |
| family, friends, and community; and be it further
| 21 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 22 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest | 23 |
| sympathy.
