SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Matthew Grawey of Dunlap on November 14, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Grawey was born August 9, 1983, in Peoria, to Richard and Anne Carmichael Grawey; and

WHEREAS, He was a 2001 graduate of Peoria Notre Dame and a recent graduate of Knox College, where he had received a bachelor's degree in political science and international relations; and

WHEREAS, He had planned to attend law school, as he found great pleasure in debate and communication; he had an early and intense interest in politics and began to volunteer and vigorously campaign in elections large and small as an adolescent; and

WHEREAS, He was employed by Peoria District 150 as a substitute teacher at Garfield Primary School and was a member of The Universalist Unitarian Church; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Matthew Grawey is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his parents; his sisters, Madeline and Ericka; and his grandmother, Elizabeth Carmichael; and

WHEREAS, He lived and loved every second and the people he touched will always remember his life, love, and enthusiasm; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Matthew Grawey and extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
