SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Maurice J. Cicciarelli of Peoria on November 3, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Cicciarelli was born November 3, 1933, in Toluca, to Maurice and Helen Ippolito Cicciarelli; he married Patricia A. Stull on May 25, 1957, in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, He was a 1955 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, a peacetime Army veteran, serving from 1956 to 1958, and a Sunday Morning League pitching legend; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Cicciarelli was the founder of The PIPCO Companies, Ltd.; he was a successful businessman and a generous philanthropist to many local and worldly charities; and

WHEREAS, He was past president of Peoria Notre Dame Club, where he received the Man of the Year Award; he was also the founder of the Peoria Notre Dame Youth Center; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and past president of St. Vincent de Paul Men's Club; he was also a member of Mount Hawley Country Club; and

WHEREAS, He will be remembered as a loving family man and a loving and giving person who touched many lives; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Cicciarelli; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Maurice Cicciarelli is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Patricia; his sons, Steve (Sally) Cicciarelli, Scott (Diana) Cicciarelli, and Grey (Susie) Cicciarelli; his daughters, Lori (Victor) Flores and Karen (Dan) Shadid; his 28 grandchildren; his brother, James (Mary) Cicciarelli; and his sisters, Rosemary Hills and Helene Flanagan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Maurice Cicciarelli and extend our most sincere condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
