SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Dorothy Dunphy of Alton on
4 Friday, October 28, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mrs. Dunphy was born on August 18, 1916 to Louis
6 and Maude Koch; she married Jack Dunphy on April 29, 1948 at
7 St. Mary's Church in Alton, where she remained a longtime
8 member and also served as a member of St. Ann's Altar Society;
9 and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mrs. Dunphy was a 1935 graduate of Marquette
11 Catholic High School; she was employed at Young's Department
12 Store and also in the offices of several area doctors; and
 
13     WHEREAS, She enjoyed the time she spent assisting with
14 kindergarten classes at St. Mary's Catholic School and as a
15 Democratic Precinct Committeewoman in Alton's First Ward for
16 many years; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Mrs. Dunphy enjoyed volunteering at various
18 organizations, including the Polio Foundation, Pride Inc., the
19 Easter Seal Society, and the Caravan Shop; in her spare time,
20 she enjoyed gardening, feeding wild birds, and collecting
21 antiques; and
 
22     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband; and
 
23     WHEREAS, The passing of Dorothy Dunphy has been deeply felt
24 by many, especially her son, John J. Dunphy and several
25 sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other
26 extended family and many dear friends, including Jim and Ann
27 Corwin, along with their son, Les; therefore, be it
 
28     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2 Dorothy Dunphy, and we extend our sincerest condolences to her
3 family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
4 further
 
5     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
7 sympathy for their loss.
