| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express | 3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jimmie | 4 |
| (Jim) Hunt Hazelrigg, who passed away on October 12, 2005; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Jim Hazelrigg was born on March 31, 1929 to Harry | 6 |
| and Helene Hazelrigg; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, After graduating from Decatur High School, Mr. | 8 |
| Hazelrigg attended Millikin University while working at the | 9 |
| family business, Hazelrigg Chrysler; in 1950, he married his | 10 |
| high school sweetheart, Beverly Heinzelmann; he was soon | 11 |
| inducted into the service, where he was stationed in Germany | 12 |
| during the Korean war; he returned to the car business after | 13 |
| the war and continued as President of the business until the | 14 |
| time of his death; Jim and Beverly raised three children | 15 |
| together until the time of her death in 1984; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Hazelrigg always found time to give back to | 17 |
| his community; through his seven years on the Decatur school | 18 |
| board, as a member and as President, he was strongly committed | 19 |
| to providing good educational opportunities for all Decatur | 20 |
| school children; he was a member of the Illinois Large District | 21 |
| Counsel of School Boards, the Decatur Mental Health Development | 22 |
| Board, and the Economic Development Board for Decatur; and he | 23 |
| was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church; and
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, Through his work with the Decatur School Board, | 25 |
| Mr. Hazelrigg met Ardath Tolly, whom he married in October of | 26 |
| 1984; together with Ardath, he welcomed six grandchildren into | 27 |
| the family; "Popo" was the favorite "big kid" among all of his | 28 |
| grandchildren and could often be found making chocolate | 29 |
| milkshakes for breakfast when any of the grandkids were | 30 |
| visiting; and

| WHEREAS, After his family, Jim's other great love was golf; | 2 |
| Thursday afternoons were always reserved for the golf course, | 3 |
| where he took great pride in being "the world's greatest | 4 |
| putter"; many New Year's Days were spent on the course playing | 5 |
| the "Frozen Open" followed by chili with his golf buddies; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Jim and Ardath shared many years together and were | 7 |
| happy traveling to wonderful places around the world with good | 8 |
| friends, visiting their grandchildren, or just staying home | 9 |
| together; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Hazelrigg was preceded in death by his | 11 |
| parents, his wife, Beverly, and his brother, Harry; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Jimmie Hunt Hazelrigg will be felt | 13 |
| by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Ardath; his | 14 |
| brother, Richard (Babs) Hazelrigg; his sister-in-law, Ellen | 15 |
| Hazelrigg; his three children, Steven (Connie) Hazelrigg, Ann | 16 |
| Hazelrigg and Dennis Bates, and Kim Hazelrigg and Scott | 17 |
| Shumway; and his grandchildren, Daniel, Joe, Taylor, Hallie, | 18 |
| Aiden, and Signy; therefore be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 20 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 21 |
| all who knew and loved him, the death of Jimmie Hunt Hazelrigg; | 22 |
| and be it further
| 23 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 24 |
| presented to the family of Jimmie Hunt Hazelrigg.
