SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Senate was saddened to learn of the death of Danny Thomas "Hobart" McCluskey of Carterville, Illinois on September 29, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McCluskey was born October 1, 1949, in Carbondale, to Hiram Thomas and Virginia Colleen (Volner) McCluskey; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McCluskey was a Sergeant for the Williamson County Sheriff's Department for the past 30 years; he worked for the City of Carterville for five years, working for the police, fire, and water departments; he was a member of First Baptist Church in Carterville and attended the First Christian Church in Carterville; he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McCluskey was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman; he also was an enthusiastic Carterville sports fan, NASCAR fan, and St. Louis sports fan; he loved his dogs and his guns; he was a certified marksmanship instructor; he participated in the Bass World Sports Tournament, and in 2003 he won the Harkins Bass Tournament; he was a former member of the Little Egypt Bass Club; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McCluskey is survived by three daughters, Laura, Jennifer, and Rebecca McCluskey, and their mother, Christine McCluskey Thompson; his fiancée, Rhonda Kay Tyner; his mother, Virginia McCluskey of Carterville; his brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. William W. and Janet McCluskey; and his nephew and niece, Caleb and Sarah McCluskey; he was preceded in death by his father; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McCluskey will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his family and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of Danny Thomas "Hobart" McCluskey, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Danny Thomas McCluskey as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
