SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Mark A. Linder, age 31, of Peoria, on October 15, 2005; and

WHEREAS, He was born October 18, 1973 in Peoria to Jody Linder and Rex Linder; and

WHEREAS, Mark was graduated from Richwoods High School; he received his bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University in 1995; he completed his master's degree studies at Western Kentucky University in 1997 in the field of industrial-occupational psychology; and

WHEREAS, He was employed in Information Services at CEFCU (Citizens Equity First Credit Union); and

WHEREAS, He was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross and the Relay for Life; he was active in the American Brain Tumor Association and that Association honored Mark by establishing an academic fellowship in his honor, known as the Mark Linder/American Brain Tumor Association Fellowship; and

WHEREAS, Mark founded the Walk for the Mind, a fundraiser walk for brain tumor research, which was first held on Peoria's Riverfront in 2003; the most recent Walk for the Mind in 2005 involved more than 300 participants and raised in excess of $25,000 for brain tumor research and related activities; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Mark A. Linder is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his parents, Jody Linder and Rex and Laurie Linder; his sisters Jamie and Stacie; his grandparents, Lyman D. Ketchum and Mary Kay and Louis Amberg; aunts and uncles, Barbara and Alan Ketchum, Betty and Nick Kouzomis, Mary and Marc Folladori, Beverlie and Robert Scott, Joyce and Bill Gum, Mimi and Lester Chernick, Stacey and Rich Amberg, and Lou Amberg; and numerous cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mark A. Linder and we extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
