SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Gabriel (Vallianatos) Vallas of Brimfield on Thursday, September 22, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Vallas was born on August 17, 1921, in Williamsfield to Noufris and Mary Ensley Vallas; he married Idora E. Clark on August 22, 1942; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Vallas worked for N.E. Finch for twenty-five years; in 1984, he retired as a truck driver; he was a member of Teamsters Local 627 in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Vallas was a member and past Worthy President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 265 in Peoria; he was also a member of Horeb Lodge 363 AF&AM in Elmwood and an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Vallas attended Edwards United methodist Church in Edwards; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, his son, George, a grandson, five brothers, and one sister; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Gabriel (Vallianatos) Vallas has been deeply felt by many, especially his daughter, Donna Sue (Dennis) Hopwood; his three sons, Carl (Paula) Vallianatos, Kenneth (Janet) Vallas, and Donald (Janet) Vallianatos; his four sisters; his brother; his thirteen grandchildren; his nineteen great-grandchildren; and his great-great grandson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gabriel (Vallianatos) Vallas, and we extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy for their loss.
