SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of William Severin O'Sullivan of Boonville, Indiana, formerly of Evansville, on Saturday, September 3, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. O'Sullivan was born in Evansville and was a 1946 graduate of Reitz Memorial High School; he was an optician for 61 years and was founder and CEO of Optical Laboratory Supply Inc., O'SO, Inc., and Eyeglass Factory Outlet in Warrick County; and

WHEREAS, A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of St. Rupert Catholic Church in Newburgh, Indiana, at the time of his death; he was a governor and lifetime member of American Business Club, an executive board member of the Evansville Petroleum Club, and a Kentucky Colonel, among his many other charitable and business activities throughout the years; he also had the distinction of being a Big Ten umpire for baseball games in five decades; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. O'Sullivan has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife of 54 years, Pat (Leffler) O'Sullivan; his daughters, Sheryl O'Sullivan and husband, James Green, and Stacia O'Sullivan Schofield and husband, Brett; his son, Scott William "Tagg" O'Sullivan and wife, Alyce; his sister, Nadine Kolb; and his grandchildren, Collin Smyser, Whitney Smyser, Theile O'Sullivan, Sean O'Sullivan, Kirsten Schofield, and Caitlin Schofield; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William Severin O'Sullivan, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
