SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Margaret Elizabeth Baker
4 Martin of Aurora, formerly of Sycamore and Oregon, Illinois, on
5 Friday, June 24, 2005; and
 
6     WHEREAS, She was born on July 31, 1916, to Ulysses and
7 Frances (Brown) Baker in Edwardsville, where she grew up; she
8 was the beloved wife of Fred Lansing Martin; they married in
9 1937 in a double ceremony in Huntsville, Missouri; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mrs. Martin was active in various women's groups
11 over the years, including Methodist Women's Fellowship, bridge
12 clubs, and she was recent Past President of Questers, an
13 antiques enthusiasts club; her passions were the Chicago
14 Tribune morning crossword puzzle, her bridge games with
15 friends, baking traditional angel food cakes, and her timeless
16 devotion to her children and grandchildren; and
 
17     WHEREAS, The passing of Margaret Martin has been deeply
18 felt by many, especially her children, Frances Sheffer, Bradley
19 Martin, and Beverly (Michael) Mason; her grandchildren, Scott
20 (Cynthia) and Stuart (Linda) Kuntzelman, Jessica (Joe) Silver,
21 Ashley (Jason) Dimm, Jay (Amanda) Martin, and Lindsay and Grant
22 Mason; and her eight great-grandchildren; she was preceded in
23 death by her parents; her husband, Fred Martin in 1981; her
24 son, Jeffrey (Margo) Martin; two infant children; and her
25 sister, Mildred (Clen) Lawson; therefore, be it
 
26     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
27 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
28 Margaret Elizabeth Baker Martin, and we extend our sincere
29 condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
30 her; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
3 sympathy.
