SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Margaret McAuliffe Kueste of Burbank on June 6, 2005; and

WHEREAS, She was born on April 9, 1918, and took an active role in helping rear her 12 brothers and sisters in Chicago's Gage Park community; she married James T. McAuliffe, a supervisor at Bethlehem Steel, with whom she had nine children, two of whom preceded her in death; she and Mr. McAuliffe were married for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McAuliffe preceded her in death, and she later moved to Oak Lawn; she married Herbert Kueste and the couple lived in Burbank; they were married for 25 years until he also preceded her in death; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Kueste took pride in her many relatives; her family, coupled with those of her brothers and sisters, swelled to 119 direct descendants, most of whom live in the Southland area of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Kueste is remembered as always having each meal on the table for her family like clockwork and as the quintessential 1950s mom; she loved to cook, perfecting her spaghetti recipe and filling her home with the smell of baking bread and cakes; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Margaret McAuliffe Kueste has been deeply felt by many, especially her seven children, her 35 grandchildren, her 59 great-grandchildren, her six great-great-grandchildren, and her numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Margaret McAuliffe Kueste, and we extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
