SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Margaret McAuliffe Kueste
4 of Burbank on June 6, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born on April 9, 1918, and took an active
6 role in helping rear her 12 brothers and sisters in Chicago's
7 Gage Park community; she married James T. McAuliffe, a
8 supervisor at Bethlehem Steel, with whom she had nine children,
9 two of whom preceded her in death; she and Mr. McAuliffe were
10 married for 30 years; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Mr. McAuliffe preceded her in death, and she later
12 moved to Oak Lawn; she married Herbert Kueste and the couple
13 lived in Burbank; they were married for 25 years until he also
14 preceded her in death; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Mrs. Kueste took pride in her many relatives; her
16 family, coupled with those of her brothers and sisters, swelled
17 to 119 direct descendants, most of whom live in the Southland
18 area of Chicago; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Mrs. Kueste is remembered as always having each
20 meal on the table for her family like clockwork and as the
21 quintessential 1950s mom; she loved to cook, perfecting her
22 spaghetti recipe and filling her home with the smell of baking
23 bread and cakes; and
 
24     WHEREAS, The passing of Margaret McAuliffe Kueste has been
25 deeply felt by many, especially her seven children, her 35
26 grandchildren, her 59 great-grandchildren, her six
27 great-great-grandchildren, and her numerous nieces and
28 nephews; therefore, be it
 
29     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2 Margaret McAuliffe Kueste, and we extend our sincere
3 condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
4 her; and be it further
 
5     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
7 sympathy.
