SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Mayple Grace (Joplin) Meacham of West Frankfort on Thursday, July 21, 2005; and

WHEREAS, She was born on March 15, 1927, in Franklin County to Frank Absher and Gracie (Tanner) Absher; and

WHEREAS, She was a Christian and a member of Glad Tidings Church in West Frankfort; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Mayple Grace (Joplin) Meacham has been deeply felt by many, especially her daughters, Karen Cunningham, Martha Jane Walker, and Jaye "Kandie" Roberts; her sons, John K. Joplin, Jeff Joplin, Jack Andrew Joplin, and Lawrence Wayne Joplin; her 12 grandchildren; her 17 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild; she was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Andrew Doc Joplin on May 24, 1957; her second husband, Kenneth Wayne Meacham on April 4, 1994; her four sisters; her two brothers; her granddaughter, Bonnie Jervis Halcomb; and her son-in-law, Kenneth Cunningham; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mayple Grace (Joplin) Meacham, and we extend our sincerest condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
