SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Willie Carter of Johnston
4 City on Monday, July 25, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on February 20, 1927, to Elmer Martin
6 and Maud (Mitchell) Carter; he married Helen E. "Bette"
7 (Shukites) on February 20, 1949, in Johnston City; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He valiantly served his country during World War
9 II as a member of the U.S. Navy; he also served in the U.S. Army
10 and the National Guard during the Korean conflict; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Mr. Carter retired from Sears in 1987, where he
12 worked as a manager in various departments; he was a member of
13 the graduating Class of 1945 and was a member of First
14 Christian Church of Johnston City, where he served as a deacon;
15 he had delivered Meals on Wheels in Johnston City for the past
16 10 years; and
 
17     WHEREAS, The passing of Willie Carter has been deeply felt
18 by many, especially his son, Willie K. Carter; his daughter,
19 Donna D. Walsh and husband Bruce; his granddaughters, Tanya
20 Hiltier and husband Shane, Michelle Niewandomski, and Holly
21 Elizabeth Walsh; his eight great-grandchildren; his
22 sisters-in-law, Charleen Moore and husband Marion and Marilyn
23 Clements and husband Ralph; his brother-in-law, John Shukites
24 and wife Judi; his sister-in-law, Wanda Ladd; and his niece and
25 several nephews; he was preceded in death by his parents and
26 his half-brother, Wilford Ladd; therefore, be it
 
27     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
29 Willie Carter, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
30 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
