SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Robert L. Johns of Orient on July 19, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Johns was born February 6, 1927, in West Frankfort, to Ota and Nellie (Stevens) Johns; and

WHEREAS, He was a retired coal miner from Orient No. 3 in Waltonville; he was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and World War II; he was a lifetime member of VFW post of West Frankfort; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Robert Johns is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 58 years, Martha (Pulley) Johns; his sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Wanda Johns and Dave and Cynthia Johns; his daughter, Diane, and her son, Gene; his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Erlene Annis and Virginia McAlvery; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our most sincere regret at the passing of Robert Johns and extend our condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
