SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of James "Jim" Hardway of Anna on May 20, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hardway was born November 28, 1928, in Oakland, the son of Cecil and Bonnie Mullis Hardway; and

WHEREAS, He married Leota L. "Jeri" Landis on October 21, 1972, in Carpentersville; and

WHEREAS, He joined the ministry in 1978 and pastored at several churches throughout his life, including the Adams-Friendship Baptist Church in Friendship, Wisconsin, Townline Baptist Church in Beloit, Wisconsin, Mount Olive Baptist Church in Dongola, Lantana Baptist Church in Carbondale, and Big Creek Baptist Church in Dongola; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Dallas Cooper and Jerry Cooper; and his sister, Patty Siverly, and brother, Max Hardway; and

WHEREAS, The passing of James "Jim" Hardway is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Leota "Jeri" Hardway; his children, Carlena and husband Loyd Thompson, Charles Cooper, Harold and wife Sharon Wright, Sue Argraves, Terry and wife Mickey Wright, Patti Neilson, Bruce and wife Susan Wright, Phillip Wright, and Jim Jr. and wife Beverly Hardway; his 33 grandchildren; his 49 great-grandchildren; his brother, Don and wife Mary Hardway; his uncle, John; his aunt, Martha; his nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and a host of loving family and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James "Jim" Hardway and extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
