SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of John E. DeMand of Bethalto on Sunday, May 15, 2005; and

WHEREAS, He was born June 16, 1944, in Ironton, Illinois, to Jacob A. and Helen M. (Barnes) DeMand; he married the former Mary E. Wegener on September 15, 1972, in Godfrey; and

WHEREAS, Mr. DeMand valiantly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy and was a loan officer at Laclede Community Credit Union for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, The passing of John E. DeMand has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Mary; his daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Dale Laird; his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Nancy DeMand; his granddaughters, Megan DeMand and Caitlynn Laird; his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" and Curtis Gilreath; and his brother, James DeMand; he was preceded in death by his parents; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John E. DeMand, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our sincere condolences.
