SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Neanetta "Nettie" Smith of
4 Springfield on Sunday, May 15, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born on June 18, 1918, in Springfield to
6 William J. and Katherine Schierlang Conroy; she married Harold
7 J. Smith on January 28, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri; he
8 preceded her in death on February 5, 1994; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of St.
10 Joseph Catholic Church; she loved to play Bingo and cards; and
 
11     WHEREAS, When she passed from this life, Mrs. Smith was in
12 the presence of each one of her children; her passing has been
13 deeply felt by many, especially her sons, Harold Martin (wife,
14 Mary Ann) Smith, Ronald E. (wife, Donna) Smith, and Edward J.
15 (wife, Deborah) Smith; her daughters, Karen Marie (husband,
16 Richard E.) Phillips and Sandra Jo (husband, Jack) Connor; her
17 nine grandchildren; her 17 great-grandchildren; her sisters,
18 Marie Magro and Lorraine Turley; and her many nieces, nephews,
19 and cousins; in addition to her husband, she was also preceded
20 in death by her parents; her grandsons, William Connor and
21 Brian Phillips; and her sister, Kathleen Turasky; therefore, be
22 it
 
23     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
25 Neanetta "Nettie" Smith, and we extend our deepest sympathy to
26 her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
27 further
 
28     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to her family as an expression of our sincerest
30 condolences during their time of bereavement.
