SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Thomas J. McLean passed away December 3, 2004,
3 exactly eight years after receiving the incredible gift of a
4 second life through the miracle of a double lung transplant;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, In March 2004, Tom received a third gift of life
7 through another double lung transplant; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Tom prevailed over his lifelong affliction with
9 cystic fibrosis with an indomitable spirit which carried him
10 through numerous adventures, even parachuting from an
11 airplane; a champion tennis player and sports lover (particular
12 of the Cubs and Notre Dame football), Tom was an especially
13 talented golfer who delighted in the competition and
14 camaraderie of his family and friends on some of the world's
15 most beautiful courses; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He was a proud honors graduate of Holy Angels,
17 Marmion Military Academy, and the University of Notre Dame;
18 while his accomplishments were many, he most cherished the
19 wonderful lifelong friendships he formed at his alma maters; he
20 was especially blessed by an amazing group of friends from
21 Notre Dame who constantly supported and loved him; and
 
22     WHEREAS, After obtaining his CPA license, Tom developed
23 many more lifelong friendships as an accountant in property
24 management for Richard Ellis, Hamilton Partners, and most
25 especially Lincoln Property Company in Chicago; he had a great
26 pride and proficiency in his work and touched everyone he met
27 with his friendly manner and determination to succeed; and
 
28     WHEREAS, His greatest gifts were the kindness, laughter,
29 and loyalty he shared with his family and friends; he enjoyed a
30 close relationship with his parents who lovingly cared for him

1 through numerous illnesses into his adulthood; he was a warm
2 and embracing husband, son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew,
3 and friend; he was especially comforted by the unwavering
4 support and care during the final year of his life by his wife,
5 his parents, and all of his family and friends; and
 
6     WHEREAS, His greatest joy and happiness was meeting the one
7 and only true love of his life, Kristine McGuire; Tom and
8 Kristine immediately fell in love when they met, and they were
9 joyously married in a beautiful ceremony at Annunciation Church
10 on August 10, 2002; though their time together on this earth
11 was far too short, Tom and Kristine's love for each other is
12 timeless and limitless; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Tom was preceded in death by his cherished sister,
14 Kathy McLean Colombo, with whom he shared a special bond in
15 their brave fight together against cystic fibrosis; his
16 grandparents, George and Margaret Barkei; his grandfather,
17 Donald McLean; and two special anonymous donors whose families
18 generously offered him two sets of new lungs so that his gift
19 of life could continue; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The passing of Thomas J. McLean is felt by all who
21 knew and loved him, especially his beloved wife, Kristine; his
22 parents, Michael and Shirley (Barkei) McLean; his brother, Tim
23 (Jeanne); his sister, Ann (Kevin) Ingram; his grandmother,
24 Marguerite McLean; his nephews, Joseph, Jeffrey, and Daniel
25 McLean and Gabriel Seannell; his nieces, Katie and Meghan
26 Ingram; his father-in-law, Al McGuire; his mother-in-law,
27 Carol McGuire; his sister-in-law, Gail (Matthew) Scannell; his
28 brother-in-law, Sean (Marlo) McGuire; and numerous loving
29 aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless dear friends; therefore,
30 be it
 
31     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
32 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1 Thomas J. McLean and we extend our sincerest condolences to his
2 family, friends, and community; and be it further
 
3     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
5 sympathy.
