SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of John W. Klun of Zeigler on May 1, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Klun was born September 2, 1915, in Litchfield, to Louis and Mary (Poznic) Klun; and

WHEREAS, He was an Army veteran of World War II who served in the African and European theaters and was a former member of Zeigler American Legion, Patrick McClellan Post 177; and

WHEREAS, He retired from Norge Industries in Herrin and worked in the shipping department; and

WHEREAS, He played baseball for Zeigler American Legion under coach George Hall; they advanced to the finals at Wrigley Field in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Zeigler and served as an alter boy for Father Charles Siefert; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Louis and Ludwig Klun, and a sister, Marie Mientus; and

WHEREAS, The passing of John W. Klun is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his sister, Johanna Pollack; his niece and her husband, Geneva and Joe Castrale; and his nephew, John Klun; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John W. Klun and extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
