SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Haydn B. Phillips Jr. of Herrin on April 25, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Phillips was born October 6, 1919, in Marion, to Margariet (Brewster) Phillips and Haydn Phillips Sr.; and

WHEREAS, He was a World War II Army veteran; after returning home from the war, he was company commander of the transportation corps out of DuQuoin; and

WHEREAS, He was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Winnie Maeser, and one brother, Charles Phillips; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Haydn Phillips Jr. is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Thelma (West) Phillips; his son, Steve Phillips and wife, Elizabeth; his grandchild, Tyler Phillips; his nephews, Mike Murphy, David Murphy, Mike Maeser, Joe Maeser, and Bob Denison; his niece, Margie Donolo; and close friends, Eric, Kristin, and Maxine; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Haydn B. Phillips Jr. and extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
