| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Larry P. Smith of Peoria on |
| 4 |
| Thursday, January 13, 2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on December 20, 1934, in Peoria to |
| 6 |
| Eldrick and Virginia Gallagher Smith; he married Jeanette |
| 7 |
| Ballard on September 9, 1957, in Gary, Indiana; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Smith was senior vice president at Illinois |
| 9 |
| Mutual and retired in 1997; he valiantly served his country |
| 10 |
| during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army; he was a |
| 11 |
| member of AMVETS 237 and American Legion Post 2; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He was a former president and secretary of Mount |
| 13 |
| Hawley Country Club and a former member of the Creve Coeur |
| 14 |
| Club; he was a member of the Knights of Columbus 427, Third |
| 15 |
| Degree Spalding Council, and the Old Timers Baseball |
| 16 |
| Association; he was active in many charities, including |
| 17 |
| ANSWERS; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Larry P. Smith has been deeply felt |
| 19 |
| by many, especially his wife, Jeannette; his daughter, Laura |
| 20 |
| Smith; his sons, Randy (and Lori), Stephen (and Kimberly), and |
| 21 |
| Richard (and Jane); his brothers, David and Dan (and Char); his |
| 22 |
| sister, Mary Margaret (and Don) Murphy; and his eight |
| 23 |
| grandchildren; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
| 25 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 26 |
| Larry P. Smith, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his |
| 27 |
| family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
