SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, James Paul Kellstedt, formerly of Peoria and a former Peoria County state's attorney, passed away on January 9, 2005; and

WHEREAS, He was born June 28, 1918 in Burlington, Iowa to Carl P. and Florence Nugren Kellstedt; he married Muriel F. Farrow in 1941 in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, He was a World War II Army veteran; and

WHEREAS, He attended Bradley and Northwestern universities and graduated from Northwestern School of Law; a member of the Illinois and Massachusetts state bar associations, he was a lawyer, owning his own practice, Kellstedt Law Offices; and

WHEREAS, He served as Peoria County state's attorney from 1952 to 1956; he also was a former assistant attorney general for the Federal Bankruptcy Court in Peoria, and served as Richwood Township attorney for more than 10 years; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Peoria; he was a former member of Mount Hawley Country Club, the Creve Coeur Club, and the University Club; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his son, James Jr., and his sister; and

WHEREAS, The passing of James Paul Kellstedt is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Muriel; his daughter, Jenny Kellstedt; and his brother, Lyman (Charmaine); therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James Paul Kellstedt and we extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
