SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Edward J. Moskal, President of the Polish National
3 Alliance (PNA) and Polish American Congress (PAC), passed away
4 on March 22, 2005, at the age of 80; and
 
5     WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Mr. Moskal
6 served in the Army; in 1946, he married Wanda Sadlik; and
 
7     WHEREAS, As Polish immigrants, his parents embraced the
8 missions of the PNA and PAC to help Poles in the United States
9 and the motherland; for Mr. Moskal, it was a natural
10 progression to do the same; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Mr. Moskal had served as PNA's president since
12 1988; prior to his presidency, he was elected a PNA National
13 Director in 1963 and became National Treasurer in 1967, in
14 which office he served until his election as President; by
15 tradition, the PNA's president also serves as the PAC
16 president; and
 
17     WHEREAS, President Lech Walesa awarded him the highest
18 civilian honor of the Republic of Poland, the Commander's Cross
19 with Star; he was also made an honorary citizen of the city of
20 Krakow, Poland; the title of Honorary Doctor was bestowed upon
21 him by the University of Poznan Medical School in 1997; and
 
22     WHEREAS, His term as President was marked by many
23 innovations and advancements on the part of the PNA; among
24 other things, he instituted a complete computerization of the
25 Home Office in Chicago, making it a state-of-the-art operation;
26 it was also a period in which other smaller Polish American
27 fraternal groups merged with the PNA, which had become the
28 largest ethnic fraternal organization in the United States; he
29 completed the initiation of broadcasting by radio station WPNA
30 (1490 AM) in the Chicago area; determined to secure the

1 financial independence and growth of the PNA, he expanded the
2 interests to the organization to include banking institutions
3 under the name of Alliance FSB with branches in Niles and
4 Chicago; constantly interested in keeping current with modern
5 trends, he led the PNA into the new world of Internet
6 communications with the creation of a website and widespread
7 e-mail correspondence; and
 
8     WHEREAS, The passing of Edward J. Moskal is felt by all who
9 knew and loved him, especially his wife, Wanda (nee Sadlik);
10 his daughter, Pamela (Dennis) Komorowski; his brother, Chester
11 (Joan) Moskal; his sister, Irene DelGiudice; his
12 granddaughters, Joyce (Joseph) Selby, Mary (Dariusz)
13 Wieczorkiewicz, and Lisa Komorowski; his great-grandchildren,
14 Joseph, Jason, and Jamie Selby, and Ryan Wieczorkiewicz; and
15 his numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
17 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18 Edward J. Moskal and extend our sincerest condolences to his
19 family, friends, and community; and be it further
 
20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
22 sympathy.
