SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Rachel M. Adler of Crest
4 Hill on April 1, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mrs. Adler was born December 25, 1905, to a
6 pioneer Joliet family; she was a graduate of St. John the
7 Baptist Grade School, St. Francis Academy, and St. Mary's
8 College, Notre Dame, Indiana; and
 
9     WHEREAS, She carried on the J.L. Adler Roofing and Sheet
10 Metal Company following her husband's death in 1942; her son
11 and three grandsons are continuing the tradition of operating
12 the family business; and
 
13     WHEREAS, She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond
14 Nonnatus Catholic Church Senior's Club, the Altar and Rosary
15 Club, the Altrusa Club of Joliet, the Catholic Women's League,
16 the Franciscan Mission Club, and St. Mary's Notre Dame Club of
17 Joliet; and
 
18     WHEREAS, She was an overwhelmingly enthusiastic Notre Dame
19 football fan who was known for hosting very exciting football
20 parties at her home at Willow Falls; she dedicated her life to
21 her family and friends, including an inseparable relationship
22 with her sister, Isabel; her special gift was that of
23 hospitality and her spirit was the center of all family
24 gatherings; and
 
25     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph
26 L. Adler; one son, Jack (Dorothy) Adler; two granddaughters,
27 Margaret Mary Adler and Sara Lynn Wilhelmi; her parents, Joseph
28 and Mary Heintz; two brothers, Dr. Leslie (Audrey) Heintz and
29 Harley Heintz; and her beloved sister, Josephine (James) Tynon;

1     WHEREAS, The passing of Rachel M. Adler is felt by all who
2 knew and loved her, especially her loving sister, Isabel (the
3 late Emil) Viskocil; her son, Joseph L. (Jodie, nee Biddle)
4 Adler; her daughter, Mary Beth (Dr. Arthur P.) Wilhelmi; her
5 grandchildren, Daniel (Debra) Adler, Teddy (Ray) Finney,
6 Jackie (Sam) Tucci, Chris (Lori) Adler, Michael (Joanne) Adler,
7 Jay (Patty) Adler, Stephen (Sara) Wilhelmi, Mimi (Tyler) Ford,
8 David (Maggie) Wilhelmi, Lauri (Gary) Scott, Kati (Mike)
9 Bennett, State Senator A.J. (Michelle) Wilhelmi, John (fiance,
10 Cindy) Adler, and Mark Adler; her honorary granddaughter, Ann
11 Clement; her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Rachel, Emma, Joshua,
12 and Nathan Adler, Emily, Jenna, and Bridget Finney, Sam, Tony,
13 and Jeff Tucci, Meghan, C.J., Matthew, and Sarah Adler,
14 Michael, Erin, Kelly, and Collin Adler, Jennifer, Joseph, and
15 Jonathan Adler, Adam, Jason, and Alex Wilhelmi, Matthew, Elena,
16 and Thomas Emich, Katelyn, Erin, and Sheila Wilhelmi, Patrick,
17 Justin, Ethan, and Andrew Scott, Colleen, Timothy, and Stephen
18 Bennett, and Maycen Pirc; and her great-great-granddaughter,
19 Isabella; therefore, be it
 
20     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
21 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22 Rachel M. Adler and extend our sincerest condolences to her
23 family, friends, and community; and be it further
 
24     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
26 sympathy.
