SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Steven "Steve" W. Whisler of Sheffield on Tuesday, March 8, 2005; and

WHEREAS, He was born on September 8, 1947, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Woodrow and Dorothy (Standfield) Whisler; he married Joyce Petersen on January 30, 1972; he later married Patricia Goffrier on September 8, 2001, in Sheffield; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Whisler was a 1966 graduate of Western High School in Sheffield; he served his country as a member of the U.S. Army and was a welder for Hyster/BOMAG for 37 years; and

WHEREAS, A member of the First United Church of Christ in Sheffield, the passing of Steven "Steve" W. Whisler has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Patricia; his mother, Dorothy; his son, Matthew Whisler; his daughter, Michele (Marc) Mongan; his stepchildren, Teresa (Emri) Huseini, Michelle (Gary) Moore, Jeremy Goffrier, and Gretchen (Jose) Pereda; his sister, Cheryl Taplin; his grandchildren, Taylor Austin Steele and Kody Alan Mongan; his step-grandchildren, Ardina and Suzana Huseini, Kassandre Verschage, John Moore, and Mikaela Pereda; he was preceded in death by his father and grandparents; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Steven "Steve" W. Whisler, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our sincere condolences.
