SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Charles L. Freeman of Godfrey on February 4, 2005; and

WHEREAS, He was born August 4, 1923 in Godfrey to Lincoln and Debbie (Fairfax) Freeman; and

WHEREAS, He married the former Wilda S. Hyndman on July 22, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas; and

WHEREAS, He attended Alton public schools; he was employed as an engineer mechanic for Max German Meat Company in St. Louis; he served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 as an infantry staff sergeant and was awarded three Bronze Stars; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church; an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, fishing, and golf; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Helen Killion and Joyce Fuller; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Charles L. Freeman is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 58 years, Wilda; his sons and their wives, James and Patricia Freeman and Richard and Valerie Freeman; his daughter, Sandra Freeman and her companion, Mary Bechtold; his grandchildren, Kelly and Erin Freeman, Rich Huber, and Sheila Foster; his great-granddaughter, Kalya Foster; his brothers-in-law, Wallace Hyndman and Joseph Hyndman; and his sisters-in-law, Marjorie Cannon, Marion Penman, Evelyn Johnson, Jennie Franklin, and Nora Woods; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles L. Freeman and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
