| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with regret of the death in Iraq of U.S. Army Corporal | 4 |
| Shawn T. Lasswell Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Alton, | 5 |
| on Sunday, April 23, 2006; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, He grew up in the Alton area; he moved to Las | 7 |
| Vegas, Nevada, when he was 11 and graduated from Durango High | 8 |
| School in 2002; while in high school, he was active in the ROTC | 9 |
| program; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, He always wanted to serve his country and joined | 11 |
| the U.S. Army after high school; and | 12 |
| WHEREAS, He was assigned to C Troop, 7th Squadron, 10th | 13 |
| Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Fort | 14 |
| Hood, Texas; his unit was deployed to the Middle East in | 15 |
| December; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Corporal Lasswell has been deeply | 17 |
| felt by many, especially his father, Shawn T. Lasswell Sr.; his | 18 |
| stepmother, Kim Lasswell; his brother and sister, 15-year-old | 19 |
| twins Toliver and Jessie Lasswell; his 8-year-old brother, | 20 |
| Gabriele Lasswell; his mother, Cathy Lynn Zehren; his | 21 |
| stepfather, Ron Zehren; and his brothers, Kevin Lasswell and | 22 |
| Vincent Gill; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 24 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 25 |
| Corporal Shawn T. Lasswell Jr., and we extend our sincere | 26 |
| condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 27 |
| him; and be it further | 28 |
| RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Corporal Lasswell and | 29 |
| his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making |
