1 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, During the 93rd General Assembly, the Illinois
3 Commission on the 50th Anniversary of Brown v. Board of
4 Education was established pursuant to Senate Joint Resolution
5 40 to identify resources and develop programs to foster in all
6 the people of Illinois a sense of personal commitment to
7 democracy; and

8     WHEREAS, Further work is needed on these initiatives;
9 therefore, be it

10     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
12 CONCURRING HEREIN, that the Illinois Commission on the 50th
13 Anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, established
14 pursuant to Senate Joint Resolution 40 of the 93rd General
15 Assembly, is reauthorized; and be it further

16     RESOLVED, That the Illinois Commission on the 50th
17 Anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education shall submit to the
18 General Assembly and the Governor its report on or before
19 December 30, 2005 instead of June 30, 2005, and that the
20 Commission shall be dissolved after the filing of this report;
21 and be it further

22     RESOLVED, That with this reporting extension, the Illinois
23 Commission on the 50th Anniversary of Brown v. Board of
24 Education shall continue to operate pursuant to its enabling
25 resolution.
