SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

815 ILCS 530/25 new

Amends the Personal Information Protection Act. Provides that, in addition to any remedies provided for under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, any consumer injured by a violation of the Act may institute a civil action to recover actual damages from the data collector.

AN ACT concerning business.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Personal Information Protection Act is amended by adding Section 25 as follows:

(815 ILCS 530/25 new)

Sec. 25. Additional remedies. In addition to any remedies provided for under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, any consumer injured by a violation of this Act may institute a civil action to recover actual damages from the data collector.
