SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
815 ILCS 530/25 new

    Amends the Personal Information Protection Act. Provides that, in addition to any remedies provided for under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, any consumer injured by a violation of the Act may institute a civil action to recover actual damages from the data collector.

1     AN ACT concerning business.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Personal Information Protection Act is
5 amended by adding Section 25 as follows:
 
6     (815 ILCS 530/25 new)
7     Sec. 25. Additional remedies. In addition to any remedies
8 provided for under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business
9 Practices Act, any consumer injured by a violation of this Act
10 may institute a civil action to recover actual damages from the
11 data collector.
