SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 210/9   from Ch. 127, par. 1709

    Amends the State Fair Act. Prohibits the use of the Department of State Police for police protection at a State fairs. Requires the use of local law enforcement agencies for that purpose. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning State fairs.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The State Fair Act is amended by changing
5 Section 9 as follows:
 
6     (20 ILCS 210/9)  (from Ch. 127, par. 1709)
7     Sec. 9. The Department shall provide for the protection of
8 the State Fairgrounds, maintain and preserve order and protect
9 the facilities and contents from destruction by fire. The
10 Department is authorized to regulate vehicle traffic as well as
11 pedestrians within the State Fairgrounds. Persons designated
12 by the Department to provide protection to the State
13 Fairgrounds shall have full police powers.
14     The Department of State Police may not be used to provide
15 police protection at a State fair. Local law enforcement
16 agencies shall be used to provide police protection at a State
17 fair.

19     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20 becoming law.
