HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Lorraine Epperson as she retires from the Board of Trustees of Western Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, She is a lifelong McDonough County resident and a real estate broker and owner of Century 21-Purdum-Epperson in Macomb; she entered the real estate business in 1974 with the R.B. Purdum Real Estate Firm and has earned the Certified Residential Specialist degree and the Lifetime Diamond Award, which is the Illinois Association of Realtors' highest award; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Epperson received both a bachelor's degree (1948) and master's degree (1952) in education from WIU; before turning to a business career, she was in education for 34 years, including 18 years as director of guidance at Macomb High School; and

WHEREAS, She served as a Board of Governors Universities trustee from 1993 to 1995; in 1988, she was recognized by the WIU College of Business with a Distinguished Alumni Award; she served on the WIU Alumni Council from 1979 to 1981 and from 1984 to 1990; she was also a member of the WIU Foundation Board of Directors during 1993 and 1994; and

WHEREAS, She has conscientiously served the citizens of the State of Illinois as a member of the Western Illinois University Board of Trustees since 1995; she served as Chair of the Board from July 1998 to June 2000 and was the Chair of the Academic and Student Services Committee from 2001 until her retirement; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Lorraine Epperson on the occasion of her retirement from the Western Illinois University Board of Trustees, and we thank her for her long and dedicated service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lorraine Epperson as an expression of our respect and esteem.
