HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois are pleased to recognize organizations in our
4 State that have made significant contributions to society; and
 
5     WHEREAS, The Northern Illinois Parrot Head Club was founded
6 in August of 1999 by Suzie Krenzelok, who served as the first
7 club president; the organization was incorporated in June of
8 2002 and has grown dramatically since then; and
 
9     WHEREAS, The organization has donated nearly $31,000 to
10 charitable organizations since its inception in 1999; the group
11 has increased its donation to the Special Olympics from $148 in
12 2001 to $12,000 in 2005; and
 
13     WHEREAS, In addition to the cash donations by the Parrot
14 Head Club, the organization has collected hundreds of pounds of
15 food stuffs for the Rock River Valley Pantry during food drives
16 and hundreds of toys for the Salvation Army Toy Drives over the
17 years; members also donate time to clean up the group's stretch
18 of East State Street through the Adopt-A-Highway program; and
 
19     WHEREAS, The club is holding this year's Island Beach Bash
20 on Saturday, February 25, 2006, and hopes to raise enough money
21 for an $18,000 donation to the Special Olympics; therefore, be
22 it
 
23     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we recognize the Northern Illinois Parrot Head Club for its
26 outstanding generosity and determination to "give back" to the
27 community, and we wish the members well as they hold their
28 Island Beach Bash; and be it further
 
29     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

1 presented to the Northern Illinois Parrot Head Club as an
2 expression of our esteem and with the knowledge that it's
3 always "five o'clock somewhere".
